Dr Matt Winning takes a comedic journey through the science, solutions, economic and politics of climate change – taking stock of where we are and asking what really needs to be done.

Dr Matt Winning is a climate change comedian and a Lecturer (Teaching) in the Economics of
Sustainability at University College London where he has researched many aspects of climate policy,
including on the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change, with many of his papers cited in
the most recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report. He performs live comedy shows
about global warming at theatres, festivals, and events across the world, including at COP28, New
Scientist Live, the Royal Institution, SXSW London, BAFTA and Edinburgh TV Festival. He hosted the
BBC Radio 4 series “Net Zero: A Very British Problem” and has appeared as a guest on BBC Radio 4’s
The News Quiz, The Now Show and Armando Iannucci’s Strong Message Here. He has a TEDx talk
about the importance of using humour to discuss the topic, a tool which he used extensively in his
debut book HOT MESS: What On Earth Can We Do About Climate Change.
