Examining the very human desire to collect 'tat' can offer a curious insight into the human condition and our changing relationship with belief and the supernatural. From spoon-based psychic Buckaroo to comic books and amulets\, psychics have been at the forefront of consumer culture for centuries.\n\nKate Cherrell is a writer and paranormal historian specialising in spiritualism\, popular mediumship and contemporary paranormal cultures. She is the author of Begotten (2025)\, Memorials to the Dead (2026) and The Sensuality of Séance (2027) with forthcoming works on popular spiritualist history. As a paranormal historian\, she has appeared on multiple programmes for Discovery\, Really\, Blaze and the BBC\, and has been known to bother a ghost or two. She obtained her PhD in 2022 and writes commercially on supernatural histories and death cultures.
